The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong.

Eastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values but it is not a religion.  Its appeal rests in the true beauty of the refreshing and character-building lessons that are so sincerely portrayed in its ritualistic work.  A deep fraternal bond exists between its members.  It is the wholesome relationship of sisterly and brotherly love brought about through high principles exemplified in our lives which makes us near and dear to each other.

While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith.  The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can.

Sister and Brothers summer is upon us and we have a couple of months to sit back, relax and rejuvenate our minds and souls. We have had many successful Charity events in many of our Regions, Districts and Chapters in our effort to help others. The Fifth Annual Charity Extravaganza was a smashing success with a total of $5,783.01 collected. Thank you for sharing your time, talents, items and funds donated to help our Charities. To date $35,939.00 has been raised for our 2010-2011“Rally for Rehab” project at the Mt Vernon Home. Wow! Let’s keep on dancing to our goal.

 Inspections are complete as many practiced the 3 Ps – Prepare, Practice and execute with Pride. Thank you for your efforts to impress our new candidates. It has been encouraging to witness an improvement of our ritualistic work.

I encourage our members to enter the Grand Chapter Ritual Award and Volunteer Award. Applications are online. Remember our Brothers may register to do the Associate Patron (short form) lecture this year. Also included are the forms to attend our Grand Chapter Session, September 24-26. We will be honoring our General Grand Chapter Officer, Worthy Grand Warder, Sister Vivian Chrisopulos on Saturday, September 25^th at a special luncheon. Please join Ohio as we host the General Grand Chapter Officers in her honor.

Our watchwords this year are Guidance, Unity and Harmony which is a combination of the theme for Bruce’s pin and my love for dance, this led us to our motto “God, you and I dance in unity and harmony”. Please read the following to understand, believe and live the meaning:

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word   Guidance,

 I kept seeing 'dance' at the end of the word

And I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.    

 

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. 

The movement doesn't flow with the music, 

And everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

Both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

Or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

And attentiveness from one person

And gentle guidance and skill from the other.      

My eyes drew back to the word   Guidance.

When I saw 'G': I thought of God, followed by 'u' and 'i'.    

'God, 'u' and 'i' dance.'      God, you, and I dance. 

As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life and once again, I became willing to let God lead. 

  

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings  

And mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.    

May you abide in God, as God abides in you.

Dance together with God,

Trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life. 

 

There is no cost but a lot of rewards; so let's continue to pray for one another.
