October, 2011
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Strike up the band!
Join the parade! Get your favorite Red,
white and blue outfit out of the cedar
chest! Dust off your Uncle Sam hat – and
treat every day like the Fourth of July!
The members of the Order of the Eastern Star
are ready to join The Worthy Grand Patron
and me as we march across our beautiful
State of Ohio waving “Old Glory” and the
Ohio Banner! Our Flag serves as a
reminder that as Americans –we are free to
speak without fear – free to worship God in
our own way - free to stand for what we
think is right – free to oppose what we
believe is wrong – and free to choose those
who govern our country. God bless the
United States of America as “We, the People”
enjoy these freedoms, which we cherish with
grateful hearts.
We are so proud of our
General Grand Chapter Officer, Worthy Grand
Warder, Sister Vivian Chrisopulos; our
General Grand Chapter Committee Members,
Sister JoAnn Hastings, Membership; Brothers
Barry Metzger, Chapter Restoration; and
Larry Groves, International OES Temple; and
wish for them good health, safe travels and
Godspeed as they serve the General Grand
Chapter and represent The Grand Chapter of
Ohio.
We hope you are as
happy with the new Corps of Grand Officers,
Deputy Grand Matrons, Grand Representatives,
Grand Pages and Aides as we are. It was
our pleasure to “scout” the state of Ohio in
search for just the right person to fill
these positions!
We will continue to ask
for your support for our Charities - ESTARL,
Benevolence, Cancer, Children’s Dyslexia
Centers, Heart, Youth, our Eastern Star and
Masonic Homes. Please mark your calendar
for The Charities Extravaganza on June 2 and
OES Home Day on June 24. Both of these
events will be held at the Ohio Eastern Star
Home in Mt. Vernon. The District Charities
Directors will be counting on our help and
support as they strive to meet the goals set
for them. Theirs is a very difficult job,
but one that can be a very rewarding
experience. Please give them a helping
hand!
We look forward to
serving the Grand Chapter of Ohio as your
Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand
Patron. If our paths happen to cross as we
travel Ohio this year, please feel free to
stop us and introduce yourself. We know
that in the Order of the Eastern Star, there
are no strangers….just new friends we are
about to meet!
With Star love,
Jean Watters, Worthy
Grand Matron
F. Lon Lowry, Worthy Grand Patron
Remember to keep on waving your American Flag…
Simply because, there is no better flag to wave!
